Who we are

More than a fraternity.
A launchpad.

Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest and largest professional business fraternity in the world. The Beta Omicron chapter brings that legacy to Wayne State University, where students from every major come together to sharpen their skills, build lasting friendships, and open doors they didn't know existed.

We're a co-ed organization open to students of all majors who share a drive to grow professionally and personally. Our brothers go on to careers in finance, consulting, marketing, tech, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and more, and they stay connected long after graduation.

  • Open to all majors and all years
  • Co-ed since 1976
  • Lifetime membership and alumni network

Core values

Five words we
hold ourselves to.

  1. 01

    Brotherhood

A bond that outlasts college. We show up for each other, in the classroom, at work, and in life.

  2. 02

    Knowledge

Workshops, speakers, and mentorship that turn what you learn in class into skills you can actually use.

  3. 03

    Integrity

Doing the right thing when no one is watching. It's the foundation of every principled business leader.

  4. 04

    Service

Giving back to Detroit and the Wayne State community through hands-on service every semester.

  5. 05

    Unity

Different majors, backgrounds, and goals, moving in the same direction. Stronger together than apart.

What we do

Every semester,
four kinds of work.

Brothers earn points across each pillar, so everyone gets the full experience, not just the parts they're already comfortable with.

01

Professional

Resume reviews, mock interviews, case competitions, and speakers from companies across Detroit and beyond. Build the skills and the network before you need them.

02

Service

Volunteer days, drives, and partnerships with local organizations. Leadership means lifting the community around you.

03

Fundraising

Run real campaigns with real budgets. Plan it, pitch it, execute it, and see the numbers, the same way you will in your career.

04

Social

Formals, game nights, retreats, and the everyday moments that turn a chapter roster into a family.

Questions

Things people
usually ask.

Do I have to be a business major?

No. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to students of every major. Many of our brothers study engineering, health sciences, communications, and the liberal arts. What we look for is drive and character, not a specific degree.

Is it co-ed?

Yes. Alpha Kappa Psi has been co-ed since 1976. Everyone is a "brother" regardless of gender, and that's a tradition we're proud of.

How much time does it take?

Expect a weekly chapter meeting plus a handful of events per month. Brothers earn points across our four pillars each semester, and you can plan around your class and work schedule. The pledge semester is more involved, and we're upfront about that during rush.

Are there dues?

Yes. Dues cover national membership, chapter events, and operating costs. The exact amount is shared during rush, and we work with brothers who need a payment plan.

Professional vs. social fraternity?

Our focus is career and character development. We still have plenty of social events, but every semester is built around professional growth, service, and leadership, not just social life.

Can I rush as a freshman or a senior?

Freshmen are welcome to rush. Seniors can too, though we'll talk through whether the pledge timeline works with your graduation date.
